The Student in the Back

"Good teachers" are a rare find in high school classrooms. "Good teachers" are defined by students as easy-going, however my definition of a "good teacher" is slightly different than the average student. I look for teachers that take the time to explain reasons behind the things we "need to know." My favorite teachers are the ones that tell how to use things in everyday life, and the background of what we're learning.  Yet there are many teachers that lack that particular quality. Most of the teachers lacking that quality, end up being too easy-going or just don't care.

I don't mind having an hour or so with a teacher that gets off-topic and brings some fun into my day, but I don't want that to be my entire day. I go to high school so I can learn and be prepared for college. I don't feel like I am prepared for my future, and that worries me. Regular classes just aren't cutting it.

Many teachers seem to grow rigid over the years and give up on teaching. After having so many students that just don't care, they have no motivation. I worry all the time that many of my teachers may break down after dealing with some of my peers, some of them already have.

Personally, I don't know what I can do to help my teachers. I want to say that they are doing a great job and that they really are helping. I want to learn. There are many others who don't, and are ruining my learning and the learning of the other students that care.
